Stories Not Atoms
A UK company building tools for the people who make films.
Shotcount is made by Stories Not Atoms Ltd, based in the United Kingdom. The company was set up to build the tools its founder kept wishing existed on the shoots he was working on, starting with media review that doesn't need a server room.
It's a deliberately small operation: one product, built by someone who has spent his working life on set and in post, and who uses it himself.
Alex Wuttke
Founder, VFX supervisor
Alex is a visual effects supervisor with twenty-five years in film, spanning Jim Henson's Creature Shop, Double Negative and Industrial Light & Magic before going independent. His credits include the Mission: Impossible franchise, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning.
He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and of BAFTA, and trained at Kingston University and Central Saint Martins. Before VFX he worked as a recording and mix engineer and as a graphic designer, which is probably why he cares about how software sounds, looks and feels.
